VB Tutorial: Cash Envelopes

Hey VillaBabes!

It’s your girl, Quinn. In today’s blog, I will be sharing how to create your very own cash envelopes. It’s the beginning of the year, and this is the perfect time for those of you who are seeking to meet those savings goals! Cash envelopes have been wildly popular in the planner community, and you will be so surprised to see how easy they are to make.

To begin, here are the materials we will be using today.

  1. VB Paper (any pattern)

  2. Paper Trimmer (or scissors)

  3. Laminating Pouch (I used Office Depot brand 5 mil)

  4. Laminator (I use the Scotch brand)

  5. VB tabs from the sticker kit

Optional:

  1. Corner Rounder

  2. Toner Ink Marker (I used the American Crafts Minc brand)

  3. Toner Reactive Foil ( I recommend Deco foil, or Heidi Swapp Minc Reactive Foil)

Step 1: Select a paper from your VB Kit to use for your cash envelope.

Step 2: Measure your currency to make sure your cash will fit in your envelope. The USD dimensions are 2.61 inches wide and 6.14 inches long.

Step 3: Cut down your paper to be slightly bigger than your measurements to ensure you have space to put more than a single bill. I cut two pieces to be 2.7 x 6.2 inches.

Stack the two papers on top of each other, and run it through your laminator, and then trim down the excess plastic, leaving some plastic around the edges. Be sure not to cut too close to the paper or the lamination will come undone.

Step 4: This step isn’t necessary, but I like to round the corners of the plastic because they tend to be sharp after being trimmed down.

Here is what the envelope should look like after you finish this step:

Step 5: Take out a tab from the sticker book and carefully place it on the cash envelope.

If you are satisfied, you can stop at this step. To add a little extra shine to your project, keep following the directions.

Step 6: Use a toner reactive pen to label the front of the cash envelope.

Step 7: Place a sheet of toner reactive foil on top of the envelope with the shiny print side facing up, sandwich your project between two sheets of plain paper and feed it through your laminator.

Step 8: Remove the foil to uncover the beautiful foiled effect and enjoy your cash envelope that can be used in your planner or in your wallet!
