VB Tutorial: Mini Envelope
Hello Villababes!

Today I’ll be sharing a tutorial on how to make a mini envelope using the paper pack from the "Magical Plans" VB Kit.

  • VB Kit paper pack
  • envelope punch board
  • bone folder
  • adhesive
  • paper trimmer
  • hole punch
  • scissors
  • decorative VB Kit pieces
First off, select your paper. If you didn't purchase the paper pack but still preordered the basic kit, you should have received an email containing the coordinating clip art and patterns. You can print those onto your desired thickness of paper and make this project as well!

Then, using the table on the envelope punch board, find out the appropriate measurements for the desired size envelope. I'm making mine into a mini so according to the table, for a 3"x3" envelope, I need my paper cut down to 5.25"x5.25". Different brand boards may have different templates so please check those prior to making any cuts. The board I'm using is from We R Memory Keepers.
The score line is also located on the board's measurement table. For my project, the score line is 2 and 5/8". What that means is that to begin making this paper into an envelope, I need to line the corner edge up to the score line ruler located on the top left of the board.

Then, press the blue button down to make a cut for the flaps. Using a bone folder, trace over the line on the right side of the paper. This is where the paper will fold.

Continue this process by rotating the paper, lining it up with the score line, pressing the button, then tracing the fold line until all four sides are finished.
When you're finished, it should look like the illustration on the right side of the board labeled "final result."

Fold three of the corners towards the inside of the envelope. Press the bone folder over the outside of the folded edges to get crisp lines.
Use adhesive, such as a glue stick or tape roller, to secure the bottom folds together. Make sure you leave an opening at the top and don't accidentally glue the folds to the back of the paper.

Decoration such as stickers or washi can be added at this point.
If you want to leave it as a tiny envelope, that's it! If you want to add it into your micro planner, there are a few more steps to take.

You can either trim the top flap off completely, leave it on and use it to close up after filling the envelope, or fold the flap inside the envelope - which is what I did!
If you have a Happy Planner or other disc punch, use that to punch holes in the side of your envelope.

You can also use a regular hole punch and scissors! Figure out the correct spacing (you can use another Happy Planner product for reference), punch the holes, and then use the scissors to cut a snip from the edge of the paper to the center of the hole.
Then simply pop it into your planner and fill it up with all the tiny things!! I have a couple of die cuts and the dainty sticker sheet inside mine.
If you try this project, I'd love to see it! Feel free to share photos in the villabeauTIFFul facebook group. All the social media links are listed below.
