VB Tutorial: Mini Desk Tray

Hey ya’ll, hey!

I love repurposing items in my stash and using them to create something functional for my “happy space”. This “Shine Bright” VBKit was perfect to make this sweet Mini Desk Tray. This tutorial will show you how to make your own.

For this pretty project you’ll need:

•cardboard tray (I used a 6x6x2 shipping box that a travelers notebook came in - it was the perfect size for this project)

•Shine Bright VBKit: sticker book, contents envelope, foiled die cuts, digital papers, notepad, planner clips, kit pen, and washi tapes

•paper cutter

•scissors

•ruler

•sticker paper (for printing the digital paper)

Select your digital paper patterns. I decided on three for this project. Print them out on sticker paper. I used 8 ½ by 11 inch paper. If you don’t have sticker paper, simply print out the digital paper on 32 lb paper and use an adhesive (tape runner or double sided tape).
Measure the depth of your box. My box is 2 inches deep.
Cut the digital paper to fit the inside and outside perimeters of the box, then remove the sticky backing and add the paper to the box. Smooth the paper, so there are no bubbles or wrinkles.

I used the water color paper as a backdrop for the interior bottom of the box and the gemstone pattern paper for inside and outside of the box.
Next, cut the kit contents envelope to fit the inside of the box. Make it slightly smaller than the inside so it can easily be placed inside and swapped out, as/if needed.
From the top, left to right:

Add the foiled die cuts to the tray; simply place them on the inside of the tray (remember to remove the protective plastic from each one), then place the contents envelope, which has already been cut to fit, on top - giving you that shaker feel.

Next, add stickers to the inside and finish the box edges with washi tape. From my personal craft stash, I added a heart shaped bling charm to my tray, for a little dimension and it accents the kit beautifully.

And that’s it! You’ve made your own “Shine Bright Mini Desk Tray.” Now you can use it to hold your kit notepad, VBPen, washi tape, paper clips, and more.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and will use your stash to make this super functional and pretty “Shine Bright Mini Desk Tray”. Stay well and be inspired to use your VBKit in fun and creative ways. See ya’ll next time!

This is a great idea and a way to use up all of my papers. Thanks Charisse.
